The xenon flash lamp serves as the spectrum light and it is applied on the surface of the skin where you want your hairs removed and could be either in a form of a hand-held wand or by an articulated arm.  The intense light produced by the lamp travels through the tissue of the skin until it reaches the roots of the hair where most of our melanin is located.  When the light reaches the melanin, it is converted to energy and instantly, the hair shafts are vaporized.  In turn, the heat also destroys the papilla or the entire hair follicle.

Not A Laser?

Most people have the concept that IPLs are laser hair removal equipment but the truth behind it is that, IPLs only produce intense light that is effective in removing hair.  The lights produced by the IPLs are so intense that it is considered to be as an “equivalent of laser” that is why the treatment became the popularly known, laser hair removal.   To achieve successful and effective laser hair removal, the certified laser specialist should utilize the same principle as selective photothermolysis. 

The use of this laser hair removal equipment requires great expertise and is more difficult to adjust and manipulate as compared to real laser devices.
